Installing the new battery

Here's the new battery on jacks on the trolley. This worked amazingly well. It allowed easy tweaks in positioning as we raised the battery.

Eventually we had all the bolts in place and could remove the jacks.

We did not manage to attached the two bolts on the rear side of the battery. They're a different size and I couldn't find one to fit on the day. These rear side bolts attach to two brackets that also need filling out because the Gen 2 battery (post 2013 design changes) changed bolt hole location by 4 mm. I'll need to source the correct bolts and file the brackets another day.

The correct Nissan bolts for the rear of the Gen 2 battery are the ones on the left. The two on the right are locally sourced alternatives; M10 x 40, 1,25P thread pitch, 8.8 grade. Note that the original Nissan bolts are tougher 10.9 grade.

Once the jacks and trolley were out of the way I installed the EVs Enhanced Translator Kit. It was pricey but very well made and completely eliminates any compatibility issues.
